Around this time of year is when many of us fall out of that “New Year, New Me” mentality. The year has officially began and as we’ve all gotten back to regular scheduled programming after the holidays, it can be tough to stick to those resolutions we claimed!
I have fallen to this routine year after year with my own wellness journey and last year, I would have beat myself up about it. This year, we’re changing gears! In 2018, I am living in a spirit of gratitude, consistency, and compassion for myself. This means not looking back and criticizing myself about what I did, or didn’t do, but looking forward to a brighter outcome.
Below are my 5 ways to achieve radiance inside and out. These tips are seriously keys to living my best life and I hope you can implement some, if not all, into your daily life right now!
The mind has to be the first thing to change for the body to change. If you notice that the first thoughts you have when looking in the mirror are negative; stop it! We tend to focus on the negative disproportionally in comparison to the positive. It’s a behavior t hat is natural but CAN be changed.
Once you’ve recognized that spirit of negativity that keeps dragging you down, it’s time to research! Find ways that dismantle that negative energy from growing. There’s always going to be that negative voice (the root being FEAR) that lives in us, but we don’t have to feed that voice! We have to armor ourselves with tools and coping mechanisms so that when we do hear those voices, we don’t allow it to take root and grow.
Now that you’ve read the blog posts (like this one!) and read a couple books like The Four Agreements and The Alchemist; its time to get up and DO something! Start doing whatever you’ve been putting off. Get yo urself together and get down to business, girl. For me, it was treating my physical body BETTER. I began working out, but also catering to my body. Showing my body love through exercise, getting a monthly massage, and choosing products that will enrich and hydrate my targets organ, my skin! Prepare for the Stumble(s)
All of what I’ve said sounds super inspiring, right? Guess what, even with all that being said, you’re going to stumble! You are going to try to “get yo life togetha” and have days where you slip up and eat that bag of chips or look back and realize you haven’t gone to the gym in a week. I want to be the first to tell you…IT IS OKAY! No one is perfect but guess what, you’re trying and that’s more than others can say!
Especially through the stumble’s and bumps in the road, be gentle with yourself. In 2018, we are expressing more #compassion and #love for ourselves. Practicing gratitude for the ability to do what we can in this moment and not envy what we do not have or don’t do. While we practice compassion and gratitude for ourselves and our current realities, we then have the capacity to share this gratitude with others. It must start with YOU first! Gratitude is a stepping stone to true happiness and I want this for YOU, right now.
